Mini Break
Well, I think I may have convinced the little senior that we should go away for a long weekend.
I've chosen Washington, DC.
I've never been there before and am honestly notsogood when it comes to which monument is which and all that history stuff.
J LOVES history and all that.
AND...
This would be an easily affordable trip !
We can drive there and arrive in approx. 4 hours.
All of the attractions are free.
The only things we would have to pay for would be the hotel (which seem to run about $100/night) and food.
So.
Now I'm hunting for the "perfect hotel" and we need to get ourselves booked soon seeing as how this is only about 1 month away.
We'll see...
Hopefully this trip happens....

D.C is great! I'll be there this weekend in fact. The Metro is very clean and easy to use. The mall is a beautiful area to walk around on. I've been there several times. Let me know if you have any questions about it? You should definitely go!
Cheers, Jane

Thanks Jane !
I actually am a COMPLETE moron when it comes to DC so any "must sees" you have please let me know ! I've officially booked the hotel room for us today so we ARE going without a doubt ! WHEE ! ! ! ! We'll be there over 4th of July weekend - and staying overnight on Monday so we can see the fireworks display which I hear is spectacular !
That's so cool that you'll be going there this weekend ! :)
Have you been there many times?
You sound like you really like DC so you should have a great time !
There's one thing that confuses me. A clean metro? What the heck is that? I'm used to the grungy gross systems of New York ! I think I shall be quite confused when we go ! LOL
I'm sure I'll have some questions and am going to thank you in advance since you've offered your knowledge up ! :) I stopped off at the bookstore on my way home tonight to pick up some travel books on DC which I'll be pouring over tonight and weeding through this weekend. Prepare for the onslaught of questions ! :)

clean metros...they have metro nazis who will insist you throw your beverages away before you even think about entering the station. I got yelled at, yes yelled at, by a station attendant when I had a cup of tea that I was going to try an bring into the terminal.
Have fun planning!
Jane
