Fucking Woods
Can I say how much I HATE living in the FUCKING woods?!?!?!??!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Fucking Wildlife ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Why am I so pissed, you ask?
Well....
Yesterday I busted my butt planting bulbs in pots so that I could transplant them into my soon-to-be garden once they popped up.
I didn't manage to get all of the bulbs planted - I've got SO many - but I did manage to get quite a few. And I left them outside overnight - some on baker's racks, some on the deck.
Uh.
Yeah.
If the little furry monsters are going to fucking DIG UP the bulbs the least they could do is FUCKING EAT THEM rather than leave a mess of dirt with bulbs strewn about ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Goddamned Woods ! ! ! !
So I've dragged the surviving pots inside for now and decided to tackle picking up the dirt, etc. shortly. My back is not in good shape after all that I accomplished yesterday and now I don't want to push it and end up throwing it out. Worst comes to worst, I'll pick out the bulbs, ziplock them and deal with it when I get home tonight.
This just TOTALLY pisses me off ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I know I should've known better, but I thought that one night would be no big deal.
So much for my thoughts !
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR
NOT what I wanted to deal with first thing this morning !

Dear Sassy,
my dear, planting blubs is a fall activity. you plant them when the ground is just about to freeze...that way those nasty little critters don't dig them up.
cut their heads off! that show em whose boss! good luck, Jane

Oh Jane....(defeated sigh)
I know that I should've done this in the fall, but unfortunately I tore my ACL and couldn't do the heavy gardening required (moving lava rock being the most strenuous) to do the task. And so it came that I asked a friend "what now???" I was told that if I kept the bulbs in the my garage, covered up, I could trick them into believing that they were actually underground and then force them up in the spring by planting them in pots. They've actually begun to sprout and so I decided "time to plant !" I just got to learn the hard way that squirrels are evil little bulb theives and that my porch is not the right place to put my precious bulbs. Luckily I have a large sunny foyer that I believe will be overthrown by my fancy pots sometime tonight. Unfortunately, I still have a whole crate full of bulbs in need of planting. So this weekend is going to be filled with planting bulbs outside in the newly cleared garden area. I understand chicken wire can be used to deter the little fuzzy fucks. That and planting marigolds & mint around the bulb area. So I'm now armed with the knowledge of what to and what not to do....the hard way. =0)
(though the funny thing is that my friend is offering her mom up to guard my bulbs with a bee bee gun - something she's been threatening to do in her own yard in her neverending battle with the groundhogs...LOL)
Once my fancy flowers pop up and bloom I'll have to take some pictures and share. =0)
