House O' Fun ! ! ! !
Um.
Yeah.
Clean my foot !
They may have taken their shit out of the house but it was FAR from clean !
HOWEVER !
Thanks to countless hours and elbow grease put in over the past couple of days and I've managed to accomplish the following:
1.
No more cat pee smell ! ! ! !
This is MOST important as there is little more heinous than the rank odor of cat pee hitting you in the face the second you get into the house. The culprit? The area rugs in the foyer and laundry room. The solution? Yanking those fuckers up and chucking them followed by a good scrubbing to the floor.
2.
The bathrooms aren't skanky anymore !
Problem #1 - Why the hell they CARPETED the bathrooms is beyond me.
Though the bathrooms are VERY yellow they had SO much potential PLUS the floors weren't crap. Solution ? Yanked those fuckers up and chucked them out followed by a good scrubbing to the floor.
Problem #2 - Two part....the tub itself was NASTY and the shower curtain covered in mildew.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
K.
So the tub had those stupid flowers stuck all over it. The problem? They were probably put down when the house was built back in '73 ! AND ! When the previous owners didn't bother to CLEAN there was quite a bit of mildew and soap scum. It took me like 3 hours of scrubbing to get those things off, the tub clean and the shower walls/tile clean. YUCK !
That gross shower curtain was yanked down (rod and all) first thing before ANY cleaning started.
So.
The question is...what does my bathroom look like now?
Well.
You'll just have to WAIT to see pictures !
All I'm going to say is that it's tre CUTE ! ! ! ! !
3.
ATTACK OF THE DISGUSING CARPETS ! ! ! !
J's dad is letting us use his carpet shampooer/steamer.
OHMYGOD !
The filth that was our w/w carpeting ! ! ! !
BUT !
NO MORE ! ! ! ! ! !
We figure we'll go over them one more time after we paint....just for good measure !
4.
Sticky kitchen floors, cabinets, ect.
Um.
Yeah.
And they thought THAT was clean !?!?!??!?!
DOUBLE YUCK ! ! ! !
I was on my hands and knees on the day of the closing (that night at least) with a scrub brush scouring the floor.
"Cinderelly, Cinderelly, night and day it's Cinderelly !"
5.
Filthy Hardwood flooring.
Yeah.
MURPHY'S OIL SOAP IS THE BEST ! ! ! !
All nice and clean now ! ! ! ! ! !
6.
Powerwashing 101
J's dad is also letting us borrow a powerwasher he's borrowing from his neighbor. The back of the house and our deck has now officially been de-skanked. Like, the deck before...if it was wet....your feet would slide around on compliments of the MOLD all over the surface. NOW? Well...your feet go NOWHERE ! WHOO HOO ! ! ! So nice and clean ! ! ! ! !
7.
Misc.
O.k.
Because I'm getting tired of typing, I'm just going to throw everything else here.
Dusting - DONE
Guest bed set up - DONE
Contact papering - Started
Paint colors - Picked out
New dishwasher and oven - Being delievered TUESDAY ! ! ! ! ! !
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of it now....
We've been to Lowes more times than I can count and we'll be going back there again today.
One more week of living in two places and prepping the new house....then we can start to settle in ! ! ! I CAN'T WAIT ! ! ! ! !
More updates to follow and pictures too ! ! ! !
